My Dancing Day

It was a small audience, but an enthusiastic and knowledgeable one at Maidstone and a great opportunity for us. I rather think we might be going back there in the near future.

Here you can see Mim and Sophie giving their all in "Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day".

It was a bit of a scramble to get to our Christmas gig at the Pilot, in company with our friend Simon Oliver. The good people of Maidstone were in for an evening consisting of one half a cappella trio and one half solo voice and guitar. We were sorry that Clive Lever, who had booked us all back in August was engaged, gigging, elsewhere, but Don Thompson was a genial host and we hope we made some new friends. The evening was not, we have to say, overwhelmingly well attended, but the quality more than made up for the lack of quantity. We thoroughly enjoyed floor spots from Don and Norman in both the first and second halves of the evening, while Simon's set was a model of its kind — a well-played guitar never allowed to overwhelm well-crafted lyrics. However, we all allowed ourselves to go a little mad at the end when the four of us — plus audience — joined forces for an extremely unrehearsed rendition of "The Little Drummer Boy" which was probably never going to win any prizes, but was worth a gold star for enthusiasm!
