The CrewAll at Sea

Taking a group photograph of Roy and his entourage (as we must now call ourselves!) is a bit like herding cats in the dark: none of us seem to be able to stay still for thirty seconds together and we are usually somewhere where the lights are less than fluorescent, so all credit to Roy's wife Jane for capturing these images!

Mim:

Yo Ho me lads! We went to sea again — to Leigh on Sea to be precise, with Roy, John the guitarist, Polly, the parrot of the Caribbean and some very dodgy company besides, courtesy of Roy's cracking pirate songs. Thigh-slapping fun had by us and, we hope, by the splendid Hoy at Anchor Folk Club, from whom we have been away for far too long. Sorry, guys!

Only disagreement of the evening — is Polly a boy or a girl?

Sophie:

Back in Leigh after a fairly long absence, and another pirate gig with Roy, John and the parrot. There were a couple of newish songs in the set which Roy did on his own, including a brilliant and haunting song about a man waiting to die in Marshalsea prison, but we got to sing a lot of old favourites as well, some of which we more or less managed without looking at the tadpoles! Tony Prior in his final summing up of the evening referred to us and John as "Roy's entourage", which amused us no end - we've never been an entourage before, but hey, you've got to start somewhere. Other than that, what is there to say? An absolutely stonking evening - roll on the next one!
