Roy Mette and Friends
Triangle in Pirate Mode

We've told you before about Roy Mette's superb Pirate songs and this was the third occasion on which he has invited us to provide the backing vocals. So, with John in the middle concentrating mightily on guitar, us waiting politely to be on vocals at the back and Polly the parrot poised on the music stand, here is Roy in full flight.

And, as if to prove that we do more than stand around looking ornamental, if you scroll down a bit, you'll find a closer shot of us, singing our little hearts out.

Our first appearance since 2006, and the pleasure of backing our mate Roy Metté's marvellous "Pirate" set. It's always a pleasure to do backing vocals for Roy; we all love the songs so much, and it's fun to dress the part. The sharp-eyed will have spotted that, on this occasion, we were joined not only by John but by Polly, the Parrot of the Caribbean, clinging onto the now notorious music stand. The folk weekend at the Steamboat is always an event that we enjoy, whether as participants or as spectators, and of course we love Roy's brilliant pirate songs, so this set was just as much fun as we had expected. It was the third time we'd provided backing vocals for the "pirate project", and we were much more relaxed than last time, not least because we're getting to know the songs better and not winging it quite so much!
